Defense is unstoppable
Everybody versus Detroit
The Ford Field
Rallys by Matthew Stafford
Over three defenders trying to cover Megatron
Itch for a Super Bowl
Tailgates before the game
Leaving it all out on the field
Illusive running backs and wide receivers
Offense is explosive
NFC North
Super Bowl coming soon
I wrote this poem about the Detroit Lions because they are my favorite team in the NFL, and I love watching them every Sunday.

Stadiums filled to the brim
Passionate fans and athletes
Officials running the games
Rally caps for each team
Training to be the best
Screaming at the top of our lungs
This acrostic poem is about sports. It is the theme of all the poems, and I took some of the best parts about sports and made a poem out of it.

My Wrestling Shoes
Goodbye wrestling shoes
you will be missed
I have had you for all four years of high school
Almost 80 wins racked up
It was a good ride
With the Adidas stripes on the side
The blue velcro that made that beautiful noise when I ripped it off
Every year people told me to get new shoes
That they were worn out
But I still velcroed them up every year
Two and a half hours every practice
Five days a week
For three months
For four years
That is around 600 hours
Not to mention all the extra I wore you for
Goodbye wrestling shoes
I wrote this poem about my wrestling shoes. I had them throughout all four years of high school, and wore them for every practice, meet, and tournament.

Ndamunkong Suh leaving the Lions
Goodbye Ndamukong Suh
He was a force to be reckoned with
Leading the Lions Defense for five years straight
Best defensive tackle in the league
Six foot four, 300 pounds of solid muscle
Striking fear into the hearts of quarterbacks
Week after week
People had different opinions of him
Saying he was dirty and ruthless
But one thing everyone knew about him
He was going to bring it every week
Whether the other team liked it or not
But the money was calling his name
And he signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins
A six year, $114 million contract
With $60 million guaranteed
Goodbye Ndamukong Suh
This poem is about Ndamukong Suh, who was one of the Detroit Lions best players until he left his offseason. He was with the Lions for five seasons, and racked up tons of sacks and tackles, and was the anchor of the defensive line.

Tom Brady
Greatest of all time
People hate him for winning
Five rings and counting
Tom Brady is one of my favorite players in the National Football League. The Lions will always be my favorite, but the Patriots, Tom Brady's team, would be the next team I would like to see win. He was a quarterback at the University of Michigan in college and is a winner.

Stephen Curry
Steph Curry with the shot boy
Crossed up Chris Paul, made him look like a toy
Pulls up and drains the three
Bucket looks like a sea
Points up at the crowd, tells them to enjoy
I wrote this poem about Stephen Curry. He is one of the best shooters in NBA history, and lights up the gym every time he plays. He is a front runner for the MVP race, and is only 27 years old.

Cutting Weight
Just wanting to make the weight
And I have not hardly ate
Striving to be the best
Not near enough rest
Hating it but feeling great
This poem is about cutting weight and the struggles with it. With being in varsity wrestling for three years, I had to cut some weight in order to wrestle the weight class I wanted to go.

Excuses Athletes Make
This poem shows a list of excuses that some athletes make that they should not make. I tried to think of some of the best excuses I have heard over the years and write them down.
Excuses Athletes Make
- My knee was sore today
- It was not an important game
- I did not feel like going all out
- It was not my fault
- If that guy did not mess up, I would have been fine
- I am not feeling the best today
- I am still not fully healed from my previous injury
- He caught me off guard
- It was the refs fault
- My team sucks
- I did not know it was steroids

How to be a Better Athlete
This poem was written about how to be a better athlete. I wrote it because a lot of people ask that question, and I wanted to give my opinion on it. I am not an expert, but if people do these things, I am sure it will help them.
How to be a Better Athlete

- Find people who also want to get better
- Practice, practice, practice
